HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION OF LUTHERAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS

It is an easy process to become a member of ALSS. The chief administrator of a Lutheran Secondary School or Association should send a letter to the Executive Director expressing the desire for your school to become a member of ALSS. Also needed is a letter of endorsement from your local Lutheran district or synodical education executive or his/her designee. Please remember that membership does require a Lutheran school to be officially incorporated prior to inclusion.

There are currently 80 LCMS and LCMS/ELCA high schools that are members of our association. LCMS high schools in China and Hong Kong and a Lutheran high school in Japan are included in our membership.

There are many benefits of joining ALSS. The key event for ALSS is its annual conference which all administrators (executive leaders, principals, assistant principals, and some others) are encouraged to attend. Our 2008 Conference will be held in Ft. Worth TX (See Annual Conference tab for more information).

ALSS offers consultative services to assist schools with planning and assessing their needs, and provides leadership training for current and future administrators. (See Services above.)

Schools and associations are accepted into ALSS by affirmation of the membership at the annual conference. Dues are assessed in the late fall when enrollment numbers for the current year have been verified. The membership, at its 2006 annual conference, voted to set the rate at $450 per school, plus $1 for every student enrolled by the second Friday in September.
